HOW TO INCREASE YOUR BRAIN CELLS ?

For a good age, taking good care of your brain, eating well, doing some physical and mental exercises and getting regular sleep are essential. First, let’s look at mental exercises or what we can do…

Learn a new language
Perhaps we find it easy to say things like “It’s over at this age”, “What good will it do me”, but if nothing else, you can do it for your brain.
It’s one of the best ways to spend these days when we’re sitting at home. Learning a language increases the brain’s cognitive functions and provides neuroplasticity in a natural way. A study conducted in Germany in 2012 revealed that the gray matter in the brains of participants who learned a new language increased after 5 months. This gray matter in the brain, especially in old age, has an effect that protects memory and motor skills, increases attention, controls emotions and manages speech.

Intermittent fasting increases gray matter
Although intermittent fasting has become a trend in recent years, we actually eat too much compared to our ancestors. Eating too much actually causes the body and internal organs to work too much. Intermittent fasting, on the other hand, rests the organs. During intermittent fasting, the leptin level in the body decreases and the brain receives a chemical signal to spend more energy. But my advice is that when you combine intermittent fasting with sleep, brain cells renew at maximum capacity. Therefore, intermittent fasting from 20:00 in the evening to 09:00 in the morning should be the most preferred.

Exercise the hand that is used less

If you are right-handed, exercising the left, and if you are left-handed, exercising the right, allows new neural connections to be formed in the brain. You can do exercises that will not tire you, such as trying to write with the hand that is used less, brushing your teeth, drinking your tea or coffee with that hand. These cognitive exercises, also called neurobic (the name comes from aerobics), strengthen the communication between our brain cells. There are also some studies that show that exercising the weaker hand has positive effects on mood.

Exercise and dance
Exercise is a situation that provides many advantages, especially in old age, with a healthy spine, muscle development, flexibility and balance. It protects against injuries and accidents. But among these exercises, one of the most beneficial for the brain is dancing. According to research, dancing reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia by 76 percent. This rate is much higher than the 47 percent rate provided by solving puzzles 4 days a week. The reason why dancing is so beneficial is that it offers more than one effect at a time. While dancing nourishes us emotionally, it also provides brain and body coordination.
